Board Member Spotlight – Pamela Rigsby

Our board member spotlight for the month features board secretary, Pamela Rigsby:

“Phillip and I have been married for 24 years. We have two sons, Preston and Parker. All 4 of us were born and raised in Madison County. Both Phillip and I graduated from Butler High School. I have an undergraduate degree in special education. My masters degree is in special education with an emphasis in transition education which is preparing individuals with special needs for life outside of the school system. Before leaving my job to be a stay-at-home mom, I taught special education in both Huntsville city and Madison county schools.”

“I currently volunteer at a local school with their athletic department, I am a travel agent, and I am the nursery coordinator at my church.
The reason I want to be a part of Next Step Farms is because my desire is to help individuals succeed and overcome perceived, as well as, real obstacles. I love watching them grow and discover new skills and talents. This program helps each individual move forward with ways to not only take care of themselves, but help others around them as well. The joy they get from each new skill and accomplishment is a blessing for all those who have the opportunity to be a part of their journey. Next Step Farms provides the learning environment, leadership, and opportunity for this growth.”

“I am looking forward to expanding the different types of learning activities and experiences that will come when we open our facility on the farm. The possibilities are endless for what skills they will be able to practice and master.” – Pamela
