Student FAQ
Next Step Farms serves special needs clients with a cognitive disability ages 18 and up. We do not cap our program but aim to fill a need. We teach daily living skills based on a farm theme. Every task required to run a family owned farm is taught, modeled and coached with our clients.
Please Contact Us to schedule an in-person interview with your student, caregiver/family member(s) and our staff. Our Educational Committee determine if the student is a good fit for our program and provide an application to complete. If the application is approved, the student will be eligible to enroll and start on the first school day of the following month,
Next Step Farms provides all materials and supplies that will be needed by your student. Lunch will be provided each day and is prepared with the help of the students as part of the curriculum. Please make sure your student is wearing comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather - layered clothing and coats are encouraged during cold or rainy weather. It is very important that your student wear comfortable close-toed shoes, as they may be using gardening implements such as rakes, hoes and shovels.
Lunch will be provided each day and is prepared with the help of the students as part of the curriculum. You may wish to send your student with a healthy snack for break periods. Please inform us if your student has any allergies, dietary restrictions or nutritional needs.
